All genetic counselors certified by this SOCIETY shall receive at least one hundred and five credits of the following continuing education courses every six years to meet the qualification for renewal:
Professional courses.
Professional ethics.
Professional laws and regulations: Medical law, Law on Excellent Health Care, Law on Prevention and Treatment of Rare Diseases and Drugs, Law on Body Collection and Precautions for Research, Law on Protection of Rights and Interests of People with Disabilities, etc.
Confirmed course content:
Taiwan Human Genetics Society: Academic conference in Spring (12 credits), Academic conference in Autumn (13 credits). The credits above are recognized based on the attendance sheet provided by SOCIETY.
Taiwan Association of Genetic Counseling: annual meeting (4 credits), case seminar (2 credits). Applicants must provide relevant proof of participation and take the initiative to apply to the SOCIETY for accreditation.
Taiwan Pediatric Association: Pediatric Genetics Conference (2 credits), North JING-FU Museum, South Genetics Metabolism and Endocrine Conference (2 credits). The above credits will be provided on-site by the hosting institutions entrusted by the Society to provide genetic counselor attendance forms. Participants must sign in for the credits that can be recognized.
For external continuing education courses that have been previously applied for and approved by the SOCIETY: the above credits will be recognized by the conference attendance form provided by the SOCIETY.
Foreign conferences related to medical genetics or Genetic Counseling: including the Asia Pacific Conference on Genetics, European Conference on Genetics, American Conference of Genetic Counselor, Canadian Conference of Genetic Counselor, European Conference of Genetic Counselor, and other formal conferences related to medical genetics or Genetic Counselor (Those who exceed two days will be awarded 12 credits). Applicants must provide relevant proof of participation and proactively submit a recognition application to the SOCIETY.
The revised method will be announced in the membership meeting and will be applicable for certification extension review starting from 2019.
